BEACHWOOD CERAMICS BY IVONNE
I live in Hollywood, CA and Abiquiu, in Northern New Mexico. I have been using ceramics as form of creative expression for close to twenty years, I do not make a living at it and consider it my passion. I do not have a studio, do not own a kiln, work at a public studio that mostly tolerates my forays into larger forms that take up a lot of kiln space.
I like to make functional ware because it satisfies my sense of practicality, but I’m not interested in making the same forms or producing a line. I am drawn to non-functional work because it satisfies a different sensibility, a sense of freedom. I like to experiment and get bored if I don’t push at the edges of my skill and the confines of the clay.
